I ran across this book while in Urban Outfitters which happens to be my favorite store :) Any who, if you're in your 20s (specifically mid to late 20s), this is a good read. Some people are having an awesome post graduate experience and others (like myself) are not so it's nice to know that the things we experience are not unique and only happening to us...

Here's a quick synopsis: "Everyone has that moment-the realization that adulthood has arrived, like a runway train, and there's no getting out of its way. In an attempt to express contradictions and anxieties that come with being over educated, minimally employed, mostly single, and on your own, Emma Koenig turned to the blogsphere.  In this collection of her most popular post (along with 50% new material) Emma harnesses the power of illustrations, graphs, checklists, and flowcharts to explore this twenty-something life.

I'm not going to link this book to a specific site because you can find it on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and as I stated previously, Urban Outfitters.  I paid $9.95 + tax.

Disclaimer:  99.8% of this book is illustrated notes and what not.  I read this book in 30 minutes but I think it's worth it (if you have 10 bucks to blow)

I'm also reading: "the Tao of Leadership: Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching Adapted for a New Age" by John Heider & "100 Words to Make You Sound Smart" from the Editors of the American Heritage Dictionaries (which I bought from Urban Outfitters).

Happy Holidays!

Hey guys,

I hope you guys have a safe and awesome holiday season! Tomorrow, I'm leaving for New Orleans to party it up with family and friends so I probably won't be posting as much (or at all) until the New Year. Go ahead and continue to vote but because there is such low participation (lol) I'm assuming that you are content with my blog, lol. If you get bored between now and January, go through some old post, I have a shit load for you to choose from, lol.

I think this is an excellent definition of a "bad bitch!" Just love her whole look and had to post it. Via Black Women With Real Hair

Liv Creme Hairdressing and Conditioner

So...I've been natural since 2007 and tried too many products. At this point, I figured I knew what worked well for my hair until...I visited a natural hair salon in New Orleans. Before blowing out my hair (not straight but to stretch my hair), she put Liv on my hair. My hair stylist used to put this on my hair back in my relaxed days but I never considered it while natural. Long story short, my hair stays moisturized, its soft, doesn't shed as much, and Liv even smooths the edges.

According to Liv, "Liv Creme Hairdressing and Conditioner is the ideal daily conditioner for hair that is dry or brittle due to chemical processing, over-exposure to the sun, or excessive use of blow dryer, hot curlers, and other implements. This light, non-greasy formula is leaves hair soft, shiny and manageable."

The only place I've seen it sold is at Sally's but it may be cheaper at those discount beauty supply stores. Either way, its my new thing :)

Maybelline's Fashion Print Nail Stickers

I know Monday I said that I swore that Sephora by OPI's nail sticker's were the best, right? Well while in Walgreen's, I saw a black and silver leopard print nail stickers that I could not pass up! These stickers retailed for 6 dollars and some change. And the results are... I HATE THEM! Reasons???

  1. I don't like how they peel off the plastic board.  It's too difficult.
  2. After the sticker is on (and after I fold it over my nail), it doesn't come off (like all the other nail stickers)!
  3. I had to cut it off and then file down.  Nail stickers usually take about 15 to 20 minutes to put on but this SHIT took me a freakin hour
  4. The tips are rising (and I haven't even had them on for 10 hours)
Bottom line?  Don't buy this crap.  I'm not linking to their site because like I said, it's a piece of shit.  I ought to call and complain, lol.

End of Year/ New Year Resolutions

I think it was last year or maybe the year before that I said I would stop making New Year resolutions because, after a few weeks or so, I would quit (like many others).  Well, turns out that this year has gone on record for being the worst year of my life.  While I have no control over the dumbasses and situations that contribute to ruining my life on the daily basis, I’m coming to learn a few things…

1.       I’m harder on myself than I have to be.

2.       Use the term “friend” very loosely or not at all, lol

3.       It will get better

4.       I control my actions, not others

5.       If they don’t like you, chances are…you can do NOTHING to change that!

6.       No matter how much I dislike my job, I have to work because I have BILLS so I should learn how to cope with people and situations, because… I’m going to be here for a while :/

Any who, I just wanted to post this for the people who feel the same way as me.  I’m trying to get my mind right because I want to enter this New Year as an optimist.  Although I wake up every day, ready to cope, I have come to the realization that I have been unhappy for years and that most of the things that have contributed to it will probably not change for the next 11 months.  However, just knowing I’m a good student, will be completed with my course work in a year, have an awesome and supportive family, am healthy, have a best friend as a boyfriend, REAL friends, and out of this bullshit of a job and city will be in Houston (this time next year), I say I have plenty of stuff to be happy about!

Sephora by OPI's Real 18K Gold Top Coat

Back in May, I posted an article from Style Blazer regarding Sephora's Real 18K Gold Top Coat ($30). While in Sephora, I saw it on sale for 15 bucks. This may still be exepnsive for some of you but I bought it. I polished it on top of a greige color (grey and beidge) named "Nite Owl" by Orly and below are the results. I'm kind of loving it right now. Like I said, it's on sale for 15 bucks at Sephora.

My First Pilates Class

School is out so I’ve been trying to get back into the rhythm of working out. Some months ago, I was invited to take a Pilates class by the studio’s owner. Between school, work, LACK OF FUNDS, and the fear of being twisted into a pretzel, I never attended until this past Saturday. OMG I feel like it changed my life! I worked limbs I had never worked before. Moreover, there are several benefits to Pilates:
  1. Length and strengthening
  2. Body awareness
  3. Calorie burning
  4. Complementary workout
  5. Stress reducer
However, it’s important to understand this is not the ideal exercise for weight loss. It’s not like it’s a high impact, sweaty, lost 100 pounds in one workout session… but it’s cool. And, for you ladies that are concerned with your hair, this is a no sweat workout :)

I’m recommending that you ladies try it (if your money is right, of course). If you’re in the Jackson-Metropolitan area (in Mississippi) I suggest you try Pilates V Studio.

Review: Sephora by OPI's Trend Tips

Out of all the nail wraps, stickers, decals...blah, blah, blah I have to say...this is the best (probably because it's the most expensive, lol).

Friday, I bought the leopard print and the pink zebra (which was from the Betsy Johnson collection and on sale for 3 bucks). Of course, because I'm a nut, I put it on that night.

This would make it day 5 nails. No chips or peeling. With Sally Hansen's (about 10 bucks), I see chip and peeling day 1. Sally Beauty Supply store sales some and so does Kiss (price range from 3-6) and they're all shitty, lol. Moreover, I think these nails are fun, sassy and they're lasting. All say up to 10 days but they never last more than two. Side note: I dyed my hair and did all kind of stuff that should have caused peeeling.

Take a look for yourself.... Any who, these retail at 12 bucks both online and in stores. There are more designs, shop here!

Pink Gumbeaux 2013

Hello everyone! It’s the end of the year again! So, every December, I think about ways I could improve my blog. Some ideas I have are to begin vlogging (on what, I don’t know), have guest bloggers (that fit within the scope of my theme, of course) and start discussing my experiences (products, people, etc.). To your top left, there will be a poll. Let me know what you want to see this upcoming year.

Side note: You guys are a pretty quiet crowd but I expect you guys to get off your butts and vote or I’m going to kick your asses because I’m asking nicely, lol.
